Pink Floyd saxophonist Dick Parry, who played on some of the legendary rock band's biggest hits, has died at the age of 83.
The group's guitarist, David Gilmour, confirmed the news on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday (May 22).
"My dear friend died this morning," he wrote. "Since I was seventeen, I have played in bands with Dick on saxophone, including Pink Floyd. His feel and tone made his saxophone playing unmistakable, a signature of enormous beauty that is known to millions and is such a big part of songs such as 'Wish You Were Here.'"
In the post, he included a series of photos with Parry, including one of the pair playing at the Victoria Cinema in Cambridge in 1963.
The late saxophonist performed solos on two of the group's most seminal albums: 1973's The Dark Side of the Moon and 1975's Wish You Were Here. Parry played with the band from 1973 to 1977.
