Many of us consider our moms heroes, but when it's born one baby will learn just how heroic his or her mother was on Sunday morning.
30-year-old Andrew Eddy had just entered the water on a snorkeling trip in the Florida Keys when, what's believed to have been a 9-foot-long bull shark bit into his shoulder.
Without hesitation, his pregnant wife, Margo Dukes-Eddy, jumped in and pulled her husband to safety.
The Miami Herald reports medics met the boat at a Marathon beach and flew Andrew to a trauma center. His wound described as severe. The family has asked for privacy.
Despite the horrific encounter, Monroe County has only recorded 17 unprovoked shark attacks since 1882.
