Long Islanders struggling with food insecurity amid the coronavirus outbreak just got a big boost from the Piano Man.
Taking to his social media channels on Tuesday, Billy Joel announced that he and his foundation have partnered with Long Island Cares to stock area food pantries and soup kitchens. Joel also purchased freezer units and additional equipment to fund the charity started by the late Harry Chapin. Noting that the number of individuals seeking assistance will increase over the next 1-2 months, Joel caps his message writing, "We are hopeful this will aid the current shortage and the limited availability families are currently experiencing."
