If you’re a dairy lover, you can thank TikToker Justine Doiron (who goes by @justine_snacks) for butter boards which was inspired by Six Seasons: A new way with vegetables, a James Beard Award-winning cookbook by Joshua McFadden and Martha Holmberg.
In the viral video, Doiron puts butter on a cutting board, then sprinkles it with herbs, salt, lemon zest, onions, and edible flower petals. She tops off the too-pretty-to-eat spread with a drizzle of honey.
Other TikTokers joined in the trend adding things like figs, truffles, and bacon. There have been some mixed reactions to the butter boards, with some wondering why it's even a thing.
The idea is to pair the butter with great bread and other butter-friendly foods; however, the same can be achieved with butter on a plate.
