Several years ago you couldn't log on to the computer without seeing someone doing the "Ice bucket Challenge." The man behind the movement Anthony Carbajal, is now pleading to the public again for help to keep him out of hospice care. Since Anthony was diagnosed he went from displaying mild symptoms to being completely wheelchair bound and severely limited. In is his most recent video he is appealing for help to keep him out of hospice.
In his YouTube video he shared the following:
Dear YouTube family, I am at a point in my disease where I require a caregiver with me 24/7. The good news is, I can live + extend my life for a very long time w/ medical equipment and around the clock care. But at what cost?
Our health care system is broken, so I have to rely on the kindness of strangers... I have 3 options:
1. Hire personal caregivers: $6,300/month out of pocket
2. Nursing home: $980/month + surrender assets
3. Assisted suicide: Free (Not an option I'm considering) I don't want to just survive... I want to live and thrive! This is why I am uncomfortably asking You for help... Below, you will find a few ways where you can sponsor one hour of my care, once a month. A small monthly contribution could help end this heavy indefinite financial burden that's consuming my state of mind. Thank you for your heart and consideration.
