AMC Theaters Set To Reopen On July 15th

AMC Theaters is ready to welcome movie fans back to theaters. The company announced that they plan on opening up roughly 400 of their 650 theaters on July 15th. Movie goers can expect a limited capacity in theaters. The theaters reservation system will only book movies at 30% capacity. Guests can also expect a limited menu at the snack bars to cut down on the amount of interaction with staff. Masks will be required based on the local county guidelines in place. Masks will also be sold at the box office for $1 each.

AMC Theater plans on rolling out the reopening in phases. During the first phase, every other row of seats will be blocked off in non-recliner auditoriums. During phase two, AMC’s advance ticketing system will automatically block out one seat on either side of every party and the seats in the rows in front of and behind each party. Check out some of the new rules guests can expect:

  • AMC’s auditoriums will be cleaned between each showtime
  • Theater rfaces will be routinely disinfected
  • Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes will be widely available at theaters
  • Employees will be required to wear face masks and get their temperatures checked before each shift

In a tweet the company said, "We are delighted to announce that AMC will resume theatre operations beginning 7/15, rolling out in advance of@DisneysMulanand@TENETFilm. AMC will implement a comprehensive health and sanitation program: AMC Safe & Clean."

Cinemark said that they would reopen its theaters across the country in four stages, starting with three locations in Texas. The remaining phases are set to take place between July 3 and July 17.
