Alameda County just gave a glimmer of hope to the Class of 2020. The county announced that they are easing public gathering rules and are set to allow car gatherings of up to 200 cars for three hours. Some cities and counties have already arranged drive up graduation ceremonies and now grads in the Alameda County area may be able to take advantage of similar celebrations. The county laid out the following requirements for all car based celebrations:
- Drivers must park at least six feet away from others, and leave room for emergency personnel to enter and exit vehicle rows
- No motorcycles, convertibles with the top down, doorless cars or bicycles may participate;
- All passengers in a car must be members of the same household and cannot change cars during the gathering
- Passengers must wear face coverings if windows are rolled down and respect social distancing measures.
