Journey have fired bassist Ross Valory and drummer Steve Smith, from the group. According to court documents filed in the Superior Court of Contra Costa County, Calif. by Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain, Ross and Steve tried to buy Nightmare Productions (a business that they thought controlled the name rights to Journey). In the court filing its alleged that they wanted to purchase Nightmare Productions so "they can hold the Journey name hostage and set themselves up with a guaranteed income stream after they stop performing." Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain said that the trust has been broken and they no longer wish to perform with the other band members and also want them to cough up $10 million dollars in damages.
