Kravitz's workout routine includes a variety of exercises, such as dumbbell curls, bench presses, squats, and pull-ups.
JOHN MELLENCAMP: Feels So Good
John Mellencamp braved 10-degree weather Saturday afternoon in Bloomington, Indiana to help Indiana University's football team celebrate their National Championship win last Monday over the University of Miami, completing a 16-and-0 season. A longtime fan and supporter of the team, he took the stage at Memorial Stadium along with his band leader and guitarist
Andy York to say a few words and to perform "Hurts So Good," which is traditionally played just before the fourth quarter at IU's home games, as well as at the championship game in Miami. In 1996, Mellencamp, who watches all the home games from a private smoking shack atop the stadium, donated $1.5 million toward constructing the John Mellencamp Pavilion, the primary indoor athletics training facility for the Hoosiers football team. The facility includes a full-size football field with turf and serves as the team’s indoor practice venue. Mellencamp loved the undefeated National Championship season."You know, Indiana University has been struggling for decades and decades and with the new way that college football is run they were able to come out on top. They've got a great coach, they have a great team, a great
quarterback. So, yeah, an undefeated season. Unheard of."
JOHN MELLENCAMP: Not Ready to Pull the Train into the Station
Last May, John Mellencamp announced that he would be releasing a new album this year.
Titled Orphan Train, he teased one of the songs, “Eternity,” by reading the lyrics in an
Instagram post. We may have to wait a little longer. Mellencamp says "Oh, we're only half done with that." Part of the holdup will be his Dancing Words Tour - Greatest Hits tour in which he will return to playing his hits for the first time in 17 years. It starts on July 10th in Grand Rapids, Michigan with 19 shows through August 12th in Mountain View, California.
Mellencamp's last album was 2023’s Orpheus Descending.
JOE WALSH: Flew the Coop
Joe Walsh missed his first Eagles show since joining the band 51 years ago. It happened Saturday in Las Vegas during their weekend residency at the Sphere. Having come down with the flu, Don Henley told the audience, "We had a choice to make. We could either cancel the whole thing, or we could man up and do the show. So, we came down here this afternoon and had an emergency rehearsal for two hours. And fortunately, in this band, we have a deep bench.” Deacon Frey, son of the late Glenn Frey, and Vince Gill handled Walsh’s parts. Deacon did the guitar solo on "Hotel California" along with touring guitarist Chris Holt, and extremely versatile Gill sang “In the City,” “Life’s Been Good,” and “Rocky Mountain Way.” The lone casualty was The James Gang's “Funk #49,” which was replaced by “Best of My Love.” Walsh soldiered through Friday's show, but they didn't do "Rocky Mountain Way,” and he sat out a handful of songs as well as the closing bow. Henley added that Walsh will "be okay. He just needs some time. Give him some love.” The Eagles are back at the Sphere this Friday and Saturday.
PETER FRAMPTON: Snow Me the Way
It does occasionally snow in Nashville, and when it does, "Music City" comes to a standstill.
Peter Frampton lives there and he posted photos on Instagram of the devastation caused by this weekend's storm, captioning them with, "Here in Nashville we are in the aftermath of a snow/ice storm of historic proportions. "At the peak there were 230,000 houses without out power and its way below 20 degrees. Many, many trees came down on cars and houses, and over 100 electric poles have snapped, impeding the linemen working. They are working as more trees are falling. "I want to thank ALL linemen! We know how hard it is what you and we appreciate all you do for us. Be safe we are thinking of you." Frampton has been recording a new album at his Nashville studio.
NEIL YOUNG: Update on Amazon Upheaval
Neil Young is keeping the promise he made last October to remove his music from Amazon.
Writing on his website, he says, "Amazon is owned by Jeff Bezos, a billionaire backer of the president. The president’s international policies and his support of ICE make it impossible for me to ignore his actions. If you feel as I do, I strongly recommend that you do not use Amazon. There are many ways to avoid Amazon and support individual Americans and American companies that supply the same products. I have done that with my music and people who are looking can find it in a lot of other places. “Record stores provide all my vinyl and CDs, while the digital music world has many alternative options to purchase my music if you like it. My music will never be available on Amazon, as long as it is owned by Bezos. My position is unfortunately harmful to my record company in the short term, but I think the message I am sending is important and clear. Thanks for buying music locally and from independent digital services.”
While Young's catalog, including archival concerts, studio outtakes, and concert films is available on the Neil Young Archives site for a fee, he's made it free for a year to those in Greenland, saying, "I hope my music and music films will ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government.
“It is my sincere wish for you to be able to enjoy all of my music in your beautiful Greenland home, in its highest quality. This is an offer of peace and love. All the music I made during the last 62 years is yours to hear. You can renew for free as long as you’re in Greenland. We do hope other organizations will follow in the spirit of our example.”
And, in another post on his site, he shared his thoughts on today's media landscape, saying, “If you watch FOX, try another channel for your news for just one day. Untruths are abounding on FOX. The New York Times used to be where I went for news. Now I go to The Guardian. I suggest you give it a try. Forget the news ‘shows’ on media. They are all posers and good looks. Remember ‘News Programs’ where it was not all about posing? Americans need some truth, not media obsessed with satisfying everybody. CNN? Trash mostly. Look deeper. There is real coverage. Go to independent journalism. Get some relief from white-washed ‘news shows.'” On the horizon for Young is a European tour starting June 17th in Cornwall, England.

TOOL: Don't Climb Without It!
Alex Honnold, who climbed the Taipei 101 skyscraper in Taiwan without any ropes or equipment on Sunday, did use a tool on the climb -- the band Tool! The 1,667-foot ascent, the highest free solo climb of an urban structure in history, was livestreamed on Netflix. The pre-climb broadcast mentioned that Honnold was a big Tool fan and after about three minutes of climbing Honnold asked, "Anybody ever gonna start my music?" Then Netflix host Elle Duncan
told viewers, "He wants the Tool." After the climb Honnold told Variety that his climbing playlist was "mostly Tool. It’s just like a random playlist that I made, that I shared with production. I made it months ago while I was driving. I’ve been training to it a bunch. Basically rock music that I’ve liked my whole life. Part of the appeal of music is that actually it helps me with pacing. Each bamboo box [eight-story section of the building] had been taking me about five to six and a half minutes. I just know how long the songs are. So it gives you it gives you a sense of if you’re going fast or slow." However, the band wasn't with him the entire way. Honnold explained, "In this case, it all kept cutting out anyway, and I couldn’t really hear and I was kind of like, 'whatever. I’m just doing my thing.'"
