John Mellencamp's 1982 hit about young lovers in a small town now has a playwright and a Tony Award winner on board to direct and choreograph the hit song's transformation a musical.It's been announced by Republic Records, Federal Films and Universal Music Theatricals that the musical written by John Mellencamp (music/lyrics) and Naomi Wallace (book) is officially in development, with 3-time Tony award winner Kathleen Marshall signed on to direct and choreograph the project.
