If you have high blood pressure you might be taking common medications that are making it worse.
Taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may cause your blood pressure to rise, put stress on your heart and kidneys, even raise your risk for heart attacks or strokes especially if taken in higher doses.
These types of drugs include Advil, Motrin, Aleve, and Naproxyn. Drugs that contain ibuprofen or naproxen can increase sodium and water retention which raises blood pressure. Bottom line, for those of us who deal with elevated blood pressure, anything containing ibuprofen or naproxen is off the table we shouldn’t take it. Check with your doctor if acetaminophen (Tylenol) is an appropriate alternative for you!
