On Saturday, November 5th, in Los Angeles, the British group—whose early 1980s fanbase resembled that of the Beatles—will be formally inducted as a member of the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame for the class of '23.
Duran Duran received 934,880 votes in their first nomination, making it the band with the most votes from the general audience.
“We are just so excited and honored to be recognized in this way. It’s the closest you’re ever gonna get to a rock ‘n’ roll knighthood. It’s another chapter in an incredible story that is called Duran Duran,” said frontman Simon LeBon to Cleveland.com.
This year's inductees include Pat Benatar, Eminem, Eurythmics, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, Judas Priest, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Harry Belafonte, and Elizabeth Cotten.
