ABBA Voyage is a much-anticipated immersive spectacle that incorporates computerized avatars of the Swedish foursome complemented by a 10-piece live band.
Bjorn Ulvaeus, a founding member, told CNBC that the endeavor was "a heck of a dangerous project in so many respects. Of course, the risk is that people will not find it to be the experience that I imagine and hope it will be," Ulvaeus said.
Ulvaeus says the notion to construct digital "ABBA-tar" reproductions of the band from 1979 arose five years ago. To create the human-like avatars, the four band members, all in their 70s, wore motion capture suits and performed all the songs in a Stockholm, Sweden studio.
London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park contains a 3,000-seat "ABBA Arena." Ulvaeus told CNBC fans should expect a hit parade with a few lesser-known tunes and songs from their latest album.
