New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has spoken and the Macy's Parade will be virtual this year due to COVID-19. The iconic parade will be scaling down its usual 2.5 mile parade route and will instead be using five anchor vehicles to tow their iconic floats.
In a statement via Deadline a Macy's rep said, “This year, the celebration will shift to a television-only special presentation, showcasing the Macy’s Parade’s signature mix of giant character helium balloons, fantastic floats, street performers, clowns and heralding the arrival of the holiday season with the one-and-only Santa Claus.”
