Just because KFC is "finger lickin' good" that doesn't mean you should actually be licking your fingers, especially in the midst of a global pandemic. The chicken chain announced that after 64 years they would be suspending the slogan over COVID-19 hygiene concerns. This isn't the only big change that they have made recently they announced that their signature potato wedges will be replaced with seasoned fries.
KFC said Monday that given the current climate the catchphrase "doesn't feel quite right." "We find ourselves in a unique situation — having an iconic slogan that doesn't quite fit in the current environment," said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, global chief marketing officer at KFC in a statement. The menu isn't changing and the company said the slogan will return when the "time is right."
What do you think of the bold move? Good idea or just good marketing?
