Tommy Macias, 51 of Lake Elsinore, CA died from complications of COVID-19 after contracting the virus while hanging out with friends at a party. Tommy's family said that he had been adhering to all of the social distance guidelines but decided to attend the gathering because he felt that things were getting better due to the easing of shelter in place restrictions. According to his niece Tommy usually wore masks but attended the barbecue in which masks were not required to be worn. He decided to get tested for the virus after he found out another party goers had tested positive.
Thomas “Tommy” Macias died June 21, three days after testing positive for the coronavirus. Tommy had posted an emotional note on social media the day before he died urging others to practice social distancing measures to protect themselves against COVID-19. “Because of my stupidity I put my mom and my sisters and my family’s health in jeopardy,” Macias wrote in a June 20 Facebook post. This has been a very painful experience. This is no joke,” he added." “If you have to go out wear a mask and practice social distancing. Don’t be a f***ing idiot like me.”
