According to the California Department of Social Services kids in the state who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school can receive up to $365 in extra food benefits per child. The Pandemic EBT, or P-EBT benefits, are designed to help families in need to buy food since schools are closed.
The $365 per eligible child will be loaded on a P-EBT card to use on food and groceries within a span of three months. CDSS says that families with children who receive CalFresh, Medi-Cal, or Foster Care benefits do not need to apply. A card will be mailed out later this month. If you are not currently receiving benefits and would like to apply just follow the link below. Interested families must apply online before June 30, 2020. The online application will be available beginning May 22, 2020 at ca.p-ebt.org.
