Running is not fun! At least that is the school of thought that I like to subscribe to. Walking is better, but soaking in a relaxing hot tub beats them both. According to research your next soak might actually help you burn the same amount of calories as walking around your neighborhood. The study conducted by exercise physiologist Steve Faulkner from Loughborough University in the UK found that taking a hot bath reduced mens' peak blood sugar levels while causing their energy expenditure to spike significantly. In short, the longer and warmer the water was the more calories they burned. It should be noted that the men in the study soaked for an hour and the water stayed above 104 degrees so be prepared to marinate in the heat for awhile but if you can stand the heat and find a good book to pass the time you may have a new exercise routine.
