The recent stimulus package that was passed included a special bump in unemployment benefits for workers in California. That additional payment goes into effect beginning this Sunday. “Many Californians are feeling the effects of this pandemic, and this added benefit is very important to our workers so they have needed resources during this difficult time,” said Governor Newsom. The additional payments will last until July 31. The good news is that the payments will be retroactive to anyone who filed for unemployment benefits from March 29 on.
