In their 1984 commercial, Pepsi put together some of the biggest cultural icons of the past, present, and future.
The ad featured a jingle called "The Pepsi Generation," a reworked version of Michael Jackson's hit song of the year prior "Billie Jean." While a group of kids, led by one dressed as one of the era's biggest stars, dances on the street, they bump into the star himself.
The boy that accidentally moonwalks into Michael Jackson is none other than Alfonso Ribeiro. Although he was already a well-known child Broadway star, he would go on to deliver the career-defining performance as the beloved Carlton Banks in the 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Michael Jackson is joined by the rest of the Jackson and they proceed to turn out a "Billie Jean" inspired dance break with the group of kids. The ad was directed by Bob Giraldi and was produced in anticipation of the groups 1984 Victory Tour. The Victory Tour ran from July to December of 1984 and was the only tour to feature all six Jackson brothers.
